Dear Sisters,
We need your help to fill in the schedule for Meals-On-Wheels delivery the 1st through the 15th in October. The delivery route currently takes no more than a hour as there a two routes of about 6 people that we serve. So we need two drivers for each day including Saturdays & Sundays. The only day that I have filled for both routes is Monday, Oct. 1. So each day has slots that we need to fill.
Let me know if you can help us out on any of these days and we'll put you on the schedule. Or if you would just like more information I can be reached at the phone #s or email below. A sign-up sheet will also be going around tomorrow.
For those of you who are new don't know about Meals-On- Wheels: This is a service opportunity where we work with the Council on Aging to deliver meals to the elderly and ill in our community who are in need. Meals are picked up at Bishop Place Senior Living Kitchen, you are given a route sheet and map (in case you aren't all that familiar with all of Pullman). I like to think of this service as being a 1-hour service missionary.
Thank you,
Dory Birch

Sister Spotlight- Deborah Thompson
Full Name - Deborah Lynn Thompson
Where did you grow up?- I grew up in Medford Oregon. My Parents still live in the same house I grew up in. They are not members of the Church but let me make the important decision at the age of 14 years old to become a
member of the Church. I have so much respect for them and they do for me. I was so blessed to have the best example of service because of their example.
How many brothers and sisters do you have? Where do you fit in oldest/youngest?- I am the oldest of 4 girls. I had such a fun time growing up with my sisters. I really do not know how my Father survived with all the women in his live, but he did. He is a tender hearted man because of all the women in his life.
If you have children, what ever their names and ages? Where are they living if not still at home?- I have 3 daughters and they all got married 7 years ago with in 4 months of each other. I experienced the empty nest very fast and it was hard. I have the best Son-in-laws and 5 grandchildren. They all live close to each other and when I visit I can sometimes visit them all. My oldest daughter is Bree and she is 31 years old and has 2 children, a boy and a girl. She lives in Salem Oregon with her family as her Sweetheart is finishing law School at the end of this school year and she will return back to Medford Oregon again.Bree is a stay at home Mom but works very hard being a great Mom and is a wonderful cook and enjoying crafting. Brandie is my 2nd daughter and she is age 29 years old and she lives in Camas Washington with her 2 children, a boy and a girl, and her Sweetheart. Brandie is a manager on a Medical Clinic. Brandie is a very busy great Mom trying to juggle being a Mom and working and is involved in sports with her Sweetheart and keeping her children involved in fun and activities. Brandie loves Sports and was a Varsity basket ball star in high school. Tori is my youngest daughter age 27 and has one child and is a stay at home Mom that is very busy with her little boy keeping him involved in fun activities. Tori loves photography and doing crafts. Tori lives in Ashland Oregon and her family. Her Sweetheart is a Airplane Pilot so he sometimes comes to get me and I get to visit my family.
What are some of the different places you're lived? What is your favorite? I grew up the first 10 years of my life in St. Ignatius Montana/Flat Head Lake. I also lived in New Mexico and we lived so close to the Texas boarder that I developed a Texas accent while I was in 6th-7th grade. Favorite place is Medford Oregon because I went to school there from Jr.High -High School and longer. Most of my life has been in Medford Oregon.
What is you favorite color? Pink- all Shades of Pink.
What is your favorite food? My Mother's home cooking. I love healthy good food.
What are some of the things you enjoy doing? I love Crafting and collecting Antiques and Vintage stuff. My weakness is thrift store shopping and I collect children's books and small cozy baby blankets. My passion is working with children. I started a volunteer Story time and music at Head Start and area Preschools just a few months ago in October. I was just recently recommended to serve on an Executive board for Head Start and area early childhood programs for the state of Washington. This Executive board makes decisions affecting policies and funding for State and Federal and area early childhood programs of the Palouse. I was in Nursing for years but left that profession because it has become to much of a business and I care to much.
Share something about you we might not know- I got my early childhood degree when my youngest daughter was just 2 years old. Going to school in the afternoons and evenings at Southern Oregon State College. I saved a choking baby and almost delivered a baby in my home. I loved high school so very much and I was so blessed to have a huge group of friends that were LDS. I met my Sweetheart in the Portland Temple and was engaged in the Portland Temple a few months later. Married there and my 3 daughters were sealed to my Sweetheart in the same room that my oldest daughter married in the Portland Temple. My youngest daughter Tori was married in the Medford Oregon Temple and was sealed to her Sweetheart by my Seminary teacher. When I grew up in Medford we never thought we would ever see a Temple someday. We only had 2 Wards and now there are almost 4 Stakes in the Medford area now.
What is one thing that you'd like to do or see someday? I want to go to New York and visit Ellis Island to see where my family entered America. I also want to visit the Salt Lake Temple again, Go visit the BYU Campus and spend some time at the family history center. Visit Russia and see where my family came from. Visit Paris France.
Name a book or movie that describes your life right now- Soul Surfer- because I depend and believe in that you can not do anything in life without my Lord and Savior and overcoming a bad MVA in 1993 but happily married and so in love with my Sweetheart and happy children and the best grandchildren.
What is your current calling if you have one? I teach the Sunbeams in Primary. I feel it such an honor to work with these little children that have been held back for this time.

OrGaNize IT!
Toss, Donate or Keep!
Toss: If it is broken, beat up, or something you would not give to anyone else
Donate: If it is something in good condition but you don't use it any longer
Keep: If it is something that you use at least every 6 months to a year
Does it Make sense? Stand back and look at your living room, kitchen, bedroom, etc. Do you have items in a room that work together? Example: Party dishes taking up room in your pantry while you are storing food in a closet...hmmmm.
Double duty: Baskets, decorative boxes, and shelving are great double duty items. You can have a lovely decorated home while at the same time hiding all that clutter!
Its Not What You Think: Look at what you have in your home. Look at items with fresh eyes. What might they be used for other than what you are using them for?
Long Time Storage: Storage bins are the best way to store long term items. They keep items clean, organized and with easy accessibility. Mark them and store them with like items.
Thanks Sister Kibler for all the great info! Sheila is available for personal consultation if you need some help getting started with your Home Organization!

Carter Family Update
"Shari is on the up swing and feeling better and hopefully be able to get up tomorrow. Alexa is also doing well and hopefully will start feeding tomorrow. I was able to change her diaper and hold her tonight. Bethany has also shown signs that are good. She has increased her urine output, which is a good thing and blood pressure is up. The scans of her brain and heart also did not show anything negative. She has a long way to go, but the new things today were at least positive. Your continued prayers are appreciated and we send our love." -Brady

Sister Spotlight: Kersten Campbell
Full name: Kersten Campbell
Grew up: Wisconsin
Oldest of three siblings all girls
Children: Emily 17, Ryan 14, Rachel 12, Sarah 9, Michael 6
Places lived: Milwaukee, WI Merrill, WI Honolulu, Hawaii, EauClaire, WI Boise, ID College Station, TX
Favorite place lived is Pullman because I like the educated, safe, and peaceful atmosphere.
Favorite color: changes every week, right now Red.
Favorite food: also changes every week, right now pulled pork from Café Rio
Things enjoy: I also change what I enjoy all the time, but right now it is reading, playing with children, serving in the primary. Trying to learn how to be organized.
I often play clarinet in the Pullman band. A convert to the church, I am very shy and reserved by nature,
but the gospel makes me step outside my comfort zone regularly, so I almost seem like I’m outgoing
these days. Despite my shyness, I have a deep love for people and a compassion for their struggles.
See and do someday: I am inspired by things of great beauty: gardens, art, landscapes, music, wild
animals, architecture, poetry, literature…and so I’d like to travel around seeing and experiencing those
types of things.
Book or movie that describes life: Cheaper by the Dozen.
